Taking Flight: Project Return Birdhouse Auction Weekend

Retiring Project Return Executive Director Susie Basler will be honored on Saturday evening, April 2, at a Latin Dance Party Auction Gala, featuring highly creative birdhouses and bird related art to be auctioned off in support of Project Return. This year’s celebration promises to be new and exciting as it unfolds over 2 days at the newly renovated Warehouse at the Fairfield Theater Company in Fairfield.

Kicking off the weekend on Friday evening April 1 from 6-8 PM is a Meet the Artists Preview Reception, offering a birds-eye view of birdhouse art donated by more than 100 talented artists from throughout Connecticut and New York. This will be a perfect opportunity to mingle with the artists to find out first-hand what inspired them as they went about crafting their one-of-a-kind pieces, fashioned from wood, ceramics, crystal, decoupage, stained glass, and other exotic materials. Offerings include paintings, sculpture, jewelry, functional and decorative birdhouses, and clothing. This event is free and open to the public.

On Saturday morning, April 2 from 10-12 Noon, Bagels and Birdhouses Family Fun offers morning hijinks for kids and their parents. Breakfast, raffles, crafts, tattoo art, and other family friendly activities for all are free and open to the public.

The Latin Dance Party Auction Gala headlines the weekend on Saturday evening, April 2, from 7-11 PM as the organization celebrates the 30-year tenure of retiring Executive Director Susie Basler and her remarkable impact on the lives of all the girls and young women the agency has served over the years. Tropical drinks, courtesy of Tito’s Vodka, delectable food by OnTheMarc Catering, and Latin Beats by Band Together will set the stage for what promises to be a lively night as guests bid on eclectic birdhouse art and silent auction items. Tickets to the Gala are $150 and may be purchased on line at www.projectreturnct.org.
