Reiki has been growing in popularity and acceptance over the past several years as a beneficial therapy to relieve stress, pain, anxiety, and promote natural healing and overall health and wellness. It is a great way to achieve relaxation and balance in an otherwise chaotic and stressful world where we work long hours and stress over various daily responsibilities and obligations.
I have had the pleasure of working with Gigi Benanti on several occasions over the last year. Most recently, I made a point of receiving Reiki from Gigi once a week and have been getting my weekly session from her office in Norwalk, CT--Angelic Healing Center. Gigi's sessions include an Angelic twist where she receives messages and insights from your angels to assist with the healing session and provide you with guidance through an angel card reading at the end of the session. Over the last 5 weeks I have noticed a remarkable reduction in work related stress and anxiety, as well as a vast improvement in my physical and mental energy levels, and reduction in physical hip and back pain stemming from an old college football injury. Reiki is truly a unique, effective, and worthwhile healing method.
It is worth noting that while Gigi does practice several different styles of Reiki, she prefers and most frequently uses Eastern Style Reiki (Jikiden). The biggest difference between Eastern Style Reiki and other styles is that Eastern Style typically involves fewer hand positions. Gigi feels that this is a more efficient and effective method given her specific skills and healing abilities.
So what is Reiki and how does it work?
Reiki means “Universal Life Force Energy”. It is an ancient Japanese healing method that was rediscovered in 1922 by Mikao Usui, a Japanese educator. He developed his own special technique for healing in which the practitioner uses light touch to allow the universal Reiki energy to flow into the client. Reiki is very simple to learn, but is not “taught” in the conventional manner. The ability to tap into this unlimited supply of Universal Life Force Energy must be passed on by a Reiki Master.
Reiki is becoming increasingly accepted in our society as a complement to traditional medical treatments. The channeled energy helps the healee to heal themselves and free up their own healing ability. And, unlike other forms of healing, Reiki energy never picks up anything negative. In fact, protections are built into the system and when the healer gives a healing, they also receive a healing.
Some notable benefits of Reiki Include:
Reiki enhances medical treatments and does not interfere or conflict in any way with medications, surgery, or other medical procedures.
Reiki is especially effective and helpful when used prior to and immediately after surgery.
Reiki can be combined easily with vaious forms of meditation, Yoga, and with other forms of exercise and/or athletics to achieve desired results more effectively.
Reiki in its complete treatment, balances and aligns all the major centers (chakras) naturally.
Reiki is essential for restoring and maintaining energy and positive wellness in combination with weight control techniques and/or when fasting.
Reiki cannot in any way be used to harm anyone. Reiki is completely safe at all times, in all situations, and adjusts naturally to the receiver’s needs.
Gigi has been a gifted healer since childhood. At age five she realized that she had been blessed with an unusual gift, and has dedicated much of her life to developing and strengthening her healing skills. Gigi has always felt that her channeled healing work was guided by angels, hence the name of her center, Angelic Healing Center.
In 1995, Gigi was introduced to Dr. Usui’s Energy Healing System known as Reiki. It was then she became a Reiki I Practitioner. Her first healing subject was her cat, who suffered from crippling arthritis. After a few weeks of Reiki energy treatments, her cat experienced remarkable relief from arthritic pain. Gigi went on to take Reiki II and then studied for her Reiki Mastership in 1996. Gigi continues to attend reiki workshops to enhance and deepen her reiki practice and she is especially proud of her certificates in Jikiden Reiki, a pure version reiki directly from Japan which she received in 2013.
She is a member of the International Association of Reiki Professionals and has been a Certified Reiki Therapist with Masionicare Hospice since 2009. She was awarded the D.O.V.E. (Dedicated to Outstanding Volunteer Excellence) award in 2013. Gigi told me that recent studies have shown hospice patients who receive Reiki need significantly less pain medication prior to their passing.
Gigi has also appeared on cable talk shows and has been a regular on WPKN, a radio station in Bridgeport, Connecticut. She has written and published several articles about Reiki and is included in the book, Reiki and Christian Healing, and has been included in the 10 year Anniversary issue of Reiki News Magazine.
Gigi has a full service Center where she conducts private Reiki sessions by appointment and also offers classes for those interested in learning how to conduct Reiki self healing and healing on others. Information on Gigi's classes and sessions is available here: http://angelhealreiki.com/reiki/reikis-sessions-with-gigi
Additionally, she is an instructor with Stamford Adult Ed and will be teaching two courses this Fall, one on Angels, Aura's and Intuition, and the other a Reiki Level 1 Workshop; information of both courses is available here: https://www.stamfordadulted.org/CourseCatalog/search.asp
How should you approach reiki if you've never had it done before?
You could choose to enter the first few sessions with a specific intention or two in mind (relieve stress, eliminate pain, etc.) or you could choose to enter the sessions with an open mind and heart and allow the energy and practitioner to flow where it is needed most. Both approaches have their benefits and both are equally effective for improving your quality of life!
If you have never tried receiving Reiki before, I highly suggest you do so with Gigi. You won't regret it. In fact, the only thing you may regret is having waited so long to try it!
