Joining together for the sixth straight year, the choirs Trinity Episcopal Church and Christ & Holy Trinity will co-host a special service of Choral Evensong on Sunday, November 4th at 5:00 pm. This special event, which is open to ALL members of the community regardless of their religious affiliation, will take place at Trinity at 651 Pequot Avenue at the corner of Center Street.
Evensong is one of the oldest liturgies in the Anglican/Episcopal tradition, dating back to the first book of common prayer in 1549. Almost entirely sung, Evensong, or Sung Evening Prayer, remains largely unchanged to this day in its overall order and has been the inspiration for some of the most beautiful and glorious music in the Anglican/Episcopal Church. This combined Evensong service has produced first-rate results over the years, raising the bar for performance every time. The combined choirs will perform a mixture of music by English composers John Rutter, John Goss, and Philip Wilby, and American music by Robert Lehman. New Haven based cellist, Philip Boulanger, will play for the service and will present a short recital following the service.
